Get to Know Dr. Hamid Ranjbaran
Dr. R says that every dental patient has a story to tell, and he loves listening to them and using the information to better personalize their care. His goal is to build up his patients’ confidence while ensuring they enjoy optimal oral health and feel comfortable from check-in to check-out. Why Did You Decide to Become a Dentist?
Dr. R can deeply empathize with his patients because he had to undergo a lot of dental work growing up. He had an underbite that was so severe that he needed surgery and was required to wear headgear for four years. He was fortunate to find an orthodontist that could help him, and he says the treatment completely changed his life. He always had a desire to help people, and this experience made him sure that he wanted to pursue a career in dentistry.
Where Did You Study Dentistry?
After graduating from the University of New Mexico, Dr. R went on to earn his dental degree from the Baylor College of Dentistry. This was followed by completing a one-year Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD) residency at the University of New Mexico, during which he received advanced training focused on sedation, dental implant dentistry, and treating medically complex patients.
Over the years, Dr. R has taken many hours of continuing education focused on advanced bone grafting and full-mouth reconstruction, and he is also Invisalign certified. He’s even had research published on PubMed that focused on the genes that cause cleft palate/lip. To stay on top of the latest findings in dentistry, Dr. Ranjbaran is a member of the American Dental Association, New Mexico Dental Association, Academy of General Dentistry, and the American Academy of Implant Dentistry.
Outside of the Dental Office, What Do You Like to Do?
Dr. R and his wife like to spend most of their free time outdoors, primarily biking long distances. They also enjoy hiking and camping, and their favorite route is Wheeler Peak in Taos. Dr. R is also into nature photography and edits pictures of his trips, some of which you will find throughout the website. At home, he has two dogs, and you’ll often find him working in his backyard whenever he has a chance.
